Marriage
Questions about Marriage at SPP?
For more information, please contact Gina Andreano at the Parish Office.
Getting Started
The Sacrament of Marriage and its preparation are taken seriously at our parish. In asking the Church to witness your marriage, you are tacitly noting your willingness to cooperate with its theology and protocol. The priest or deacon witnessing your wedding needs to certify that you share in and believe what the Church teaches about marriage. Begin each day praying for yourself and your future spouse that God will continue to ripen His grace in you as you approach the sacrament of marriage.

In order to start the process, please complete the Pre-Nuptial Investigation (PNI) form and send to Gina Andreano at gina.andreano@spphoboken.com.
In order to guide you through the Marriage process at Saints Peter & Paul, we have explained our Wedding Checklist below.

Please note: All appointments are made through: gina.andreano@ spphoboken.com

Be a registered, actively participating and regularly supporting member of the Parish for at least three months. Register Here. If you are not already receiving Parish Collection Envelopes or contributing through either of our electronic/online Giving platforms (Faith Direct or Zelle), you MUST sign up for one of these contribution methods and begin to show financial support of the Parish. Contact the Parish Office or website for details on how to do so.
Wedding Checklist

IMMEDIATELY begin to collect and submit currently dated copies of your Sacramental records (Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation). These must be obtained from the Parish in which you were Baptized and/or any other Parish in which you received your First Communion and Confirmation. They must have a ‘raised Seal of the Parish’ on them, and indicate that there are ‘No Notations of previous Marriages.’ Once the PNI form and certificates are received, you will then be scheduled to meet with Msgr. Michael A. Andreano for your initial Wedding Meeting to determine whether or not Marriage in the Catholic Church is possible, dependent upon your particular circumstances.
Please note: Obtaining currently dated copies of your Sacramental Certificates can take some time even from local Parishes, and especially when dealing with an International record request. Hence, the need to begin the process of obtaining them early on in the process. NO MARRIAGE IN THE CHURCH CAN PROCEED WITHOUT THESE DOCUMENTS. Although photocopies or the originals from when the Sacrament was first received are not acceptable (because the Baptismal Parish must indicate that there are no current notifications in there records of an already existing Marriage), if there is an initial difficulty in obtaining current Certificates prior to your initial Wedding Meeting, you may bring the valid copies/originals that at least show evidence of having received Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation. However, such copies will only allow a tentative beginning of the Marriage preparation process. Currently dated Certificates must be obtained in order for the Marriage eventually to take place.
