A Message from Monsignor Andreano

Synod, the Pope seeks your input!

As mentioned in Cardinal Tobin’s Letter, which initially appeared in our October 24th Bulletin, Pope Francis announced the Sixteenth Ordinary Synod of Bishops, which will take place in 2023 in Rome. His theme for the Synod is for a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission. (The term “synodality” means walking the same road together. We journey as a Church together, all of us – Pope, Bishops, Priests, Deacons, Religious, Laity, and those on the margins.)

In launching this two-year Synod, the Holy Father is including a call to Catholics across the World to consider the opportunity of offering prayerful input. In this consultation, Pope Francis’ overarching question is: What does the Holy Spirit expect of the Church of the 21st Century?  Outgrowth questions from that could be:

1. What is successful and engaging in the way we are “journeying together” as a Church today?

2. What steps does the Holy Spirit invite us to take in order to grow in our journeying together? What needs to be changed? Where do we need to go (yet)?

3. How can we reach out to those who do not yet, or are no longer participating in the Church? How do we reach out to include cultural or ethnic groups, women, disabled, those living in poverty or social exclusion, or others? What prevents us from “walking together”?

4. How do we better help people to encounter Christ?

We want to hear from you!

If you would like to comment on any/all of the above questions, or offer any other relevant input, please consider doing so by sending your prayer-filled thoughts.  You may do so either through the mail or dropping off at the Parish Office, or via email at:
In either case, please note ‘SYNOD’ on the
Mailing Envelope or in the Subject Line of your email.
